BE AWARE OF YOUR CHARGER An area equivalent of 500 football fields a year is needed to absorb all the carbon dioxide produced by cell phone chargers that are left plugged into electrical outlets. Some 95 percent of the energy used by cell ph `one chargers is wasted - only 5 percent is actually used to charge the phone and the rest goes to waste when the charger is left plugged in.

Always add a cup of salt to the washing machine when laundering new towels. The salt will set the colors so the towels won't fade as quickly.

THAT'S A LOT OF RAZORS Avoid disposable razors because of the plastic used each time. Americans throw away two billion disposable razors each year. Disposable blades are a better choice or even an electric razor, as you will certainly get lots of use out of it.

White vinegar heals bruises! Soak a cotton ball in vinegar and apply to the bruise for an hour. It will reduce the blueness of the bruise and speed up the healing process.

BE A FAN OF FANS Ceiling fans can reduce air-conditioning costs by as much as 40 percent in the Summer. Amazingly, they can also save energy in the Winter. By agitating the air and stopping cool air from pooling at ground level, they can reduce heating bills by 10 percent.

Fill a few old milk cartons with sand or kitty litter and keep them in your car's trunk. If you get stuck, sprinkle the sand on the ice to improve the tires' traction.
